There’s been a lot of talk about the Nintendo Switch 2 after alleged prototype images of Nintendo’s next-gen console surfaced online.
The unverified images — a mix of computer-aided design (CAD) images and printed circuit board (PCB) photos — reportedly originated on a Chinese website before ending up on Reddit. They show a device that resembles the existing Switch console, but with a larger screen and magnetic Joy-Cons, which lines up with previous reports about the Switch 2. There are also USB-C ports on the top and bottom of the console.
Nintendo has yet to comment on the images, and it’s important to note that they have not been verified at this time and may represent an early design that has since been significantly modified. However, VGC was told by a source that they “align with what the company has told its partners to expect from its design.”
Tweets from Andy Robinson of VGC, below, contain the images:

Accompanying the images is a list of alleged specs, which mentions 12GB of RAM (the original Switch has 4GB) and 256GB of internal storage (the original Switch has 32GB).
Again, these images and specs are unverified at this time. Nintendo has officially said that it will announce its next-generation console by April 2025, and has indicated that the console won’t launch until after the current fiscal year.
Still, the excitement for Switch 2 is at its peak and we even have developers saying they plan to release their upcoming games on the console. If Switch 2 does end up coming out, Nintendo expects to have sufficient stock availablewhich will hopefully prevent scalping.
